Skating - Chicago - Illinois - USA Return

Having been in Chicago in the winter, I know that is not much fun. But early summer is different.

We have only skated downtown and around the lake shore. But I found them to be very good for skating. I can not comment on any other places in or around Chicago, but downtown is pretty good. There is a nice WIDE path around the lake for bicycles, jogging and skating. Lots of people use it, we even saw a few skaters. Great!

Road Surface	Describes road surface conditions		Really very good. Compared to other roads I found in America, downtown Chicago was terrific. Really not bad.
Road Conditions	Is there enough room for skating on the road? Are intersections crossable?		The roads were always busy, but we never had a problem skating. There are lots of sidewalks, and they were in overall good condition, and the roads were fine.
Traffic Conditions	Describes level and condition of traffic. Is the traffic heavy, fast or erratic.		Traffic can be a bit HEAVY so we had to keep our eyes, and ears, open.
Driver Attitudes	Describes how drivers react to and treat skaters		We were polite skaters in Chicago, and surprisingly (for the USA where drivers can get real angry and real rude real fast) we had no problems skating.
Danger Level	Describes overall danger of skating in this location. Everyplace is dangerous to street skate. Street skating means crumbling roads, bad drivers (or worse), air pollution and even nature. But some places are more dangerous than others		Downtown looked fine to us, roads seemed ok, no pollution to speak of when we skated.
Criminal Factor	How serious is crime in this location.		Downtown looked fine to us, but every day on the radio it seemed someone was getting shot, or run over or held up. So it did not sound good, but what we saw looked ok.
Cool Factor	Is this a cool place to skate.		Actually pretty cool, The Lake shore was good, downtown was fun, all the tall buildings, skating under the bridges, through the parks.
Fun Factor	Is this a fun place to skate.		It is fun here, at least when the weather is good.
Sidewalks	Are there sidewalks, and if there are what are they like? Often having sidewalks can be worse than not having them. With a bad sidewalk drivers may assume you should be using it - no matter how dangerous it is to use, and react very badly when they see you on the road instead of the sidewalk.		Lots of sidewalks in good repair, very wide. Very good.
Misc	Any other conditions or issues that were found while skating here
Summary	A summarization of the skating experience at this location.		When the weather is good, so is downtown Chicago. Very nice. Wide clean streets, parks, it was good.
Desire to Return - Overall Rating	The bottom line. Is the place good enough that we want to return here to skate it more. With all the above taken into consideration how much are we looking forward return and skate this location further.		My problem is I am an Asia Skater, I am from the US, and now live in Asia, and I like skating in Asia, that is where my heart is at. So do I dream of skating here again? No, but if can see that if someone who lives here, likes to skate, it would be good. Next time I have to come back on Business I will bring my skates and look forward to that.
